What is the down rod and why isn't it included?

A downrod is an extension pipe that connects your fan's motor housing to the mounting hardware attached to the ceiling.
The Ranger 52" flush mount smart ceiling fan doesn't come with a downrod due to its 'flush mount' design, the motor case attaches directly onto the ceiling. A flush mount ceiling fan is perfect for rooms with a low ceiling.
