First minted in 1909 and still in production today, the Lincoln cent is the longest running coin design in U.S. history, despite several design modifications along the way. Offered here is a unique broad strike error producing an iconic shape and preserved in mint state red brown condition. You will receive the unique coin shown in the photos housed in a deluxe collector’s pouch with a certificate of authenticity.

About the Lincoln Cent:
Lincoln became the first President to be depicted on a circulating coin with the introduction of the Lincoln Cent on the 100th anniversary of his birth in 1909. The reverse of the original Lincoln cent issued from 1909 to 1958 depicted two wheat stalks, giving rise to its common name, the “wheat penny.” The wheat reverse design was later replaced in 1959 with the Lincoln Memorial to celebrate Lincoln’s 150th birthday. Since 2010, the reverse has featured a new depiction of the Union Shield, emblematic of President Lincoln's preservation of the United States as a single and unified country. Production of the Lincoln cent continues to this day, making it the longest running coin design in U.S. history.
