Miyagikyo Single Malt Whisky is a refined expression from Nikka's Miyagikyo Distillery, nestled in the scenic Miyagi prefecture. Founded in 1969 by Masataka Taketsuru, Miyagikyo was established to offer a contrast to the bolder Yoichi distillery. Crafted from light peated and non-peated malted barley, and distilled in pot stills heated by indirect steam, this whisky exemplifies elegance and fruitiness. The 2016 release of this no-age-statement expression highlights Miyagikyo's signature style, with estery aromas from carefully selected yeast strains and a distinctive Sherry cask influence. This whisky offers a delicate balance of flavor, making it a standout in the world of Japanese single malts.
