Being offered today is an excellent example of a CHOICE UNCIRCULATED
$1 Dollar 1899 BLACK EAGLE SIVER CERTIFICATE NOTE in the large size series.

This note has the date under the serial number. If you look under the serial number, you will see that the date of 1899 is under the serial number of the note. That is why this note is called “Date Under”.

The Date Under is the most collectible for this series.

This note has tremendous eye appeal. deep embossing, and perfect centering. The paper is bright with bold inking. It has sharp edges and corners.

The Silver Certificate note is identified by the number”1” on the left side of the note, and the “Blue Seal” on the right side of the note.

The back of the note states:

THIS CERTIFICATE IS RECEIVABLE FOR CUSTOMS, TAXES, AND ALL PUBLIC DUES, AND WHEN RECEIVED MAY BE REISSUED.

This note had one ounce of silver deposited in the U.S. Treasury. So, back then you could redeem it for a silver dollar. Just imagine if you got an 1893 S Morgan Silver Dollar. It’s worth a cool $ 3 Million today!

If you take a look at the pictures, it will show red and blue fibers in the note. This was another way that the Bureau of Engraving and Printing prevented these notes from being counterfeited.

The note shows no sign of wear on the corners or the sides. All of the corners and edges of the note are crisp and clean. There are no pinholes, rips, stains, or tears. The note is encased in a long-term preservation holder.
