Product Description

An attractive Egyptian steatite scarab, 2nd Intermediate Period, c. 1750 – 1570 BC, the body is nicely carved with well-defined trapezoidal head and grooves for legs. On the base, a beautifully incised image of the god Ra standing to left, wearing pointed kilt and holding an erect cobra, a second cobra in before with head reared and hood open. Drilled lengthwise for suspension, a lovely example!
