Ancient Egypt, Late Period, c. 664 - 343 BC. Incredible blue faience ushabti. A burial figure, servant to the deceased in the afterlife. Depicted mummiform, with false beard, arms folded across chest, hands holding a pick and hoe, seed bag over shoulder, crisp hieroglyphic inscription from the Book of the Dead down front. Intact and exceptionally well-preserved with brilliant blue color.

Depicted mummiform, with false beard, arms folded across chest, hands holding a pick and hoe, seed bag over shoulder, crisp heiroglyphic inscription from the Book of the Dead down front. Intact and exceptionally well-preserved with brilliant blue color. Artifact measures 15 cm (5 7/8"). With custom display stand (entire piece stands 16.4 cm (6 1/2") tall. ex-Nomis Antiquities, Los Angeles, CA; ex-Simonian family collection, Switzerland, acquired in the 1960's.
