One of the first coins to depict Jesus Christ! Byzantine Empire, reign of Romanus IV, 1068 - 1071 AD. Class G bronze follis. Christ, nimbate, with pallium and colobrium, with hand raised in benediction, and holding scroll. IC-XC. / Facing bust of Virgin Mary orans, nimbate and wearing pallium and maphorium. Nice portraits of both Christ and Mary! VF. Black patina with light earthen deposits.
